Besides general physiotherapy Katrina is an accredited Lymphoedema therapist (Dr Vodder) and a registered member of the Australasian Lymphology Association and the National Lymphoedema Practitioners Register, www.nlpr.asn.au.

The Lymphatic system is a major part of the immune system, you could think of it as the garbage disposable unit of the body, it delivers nutrients and antibodies to our tissues and also removes toxins and excess fluid from them.

Treatment consists of hand on Manual Lymph Drainage (MLD). MLD has been proven to significantly reduce swelling, aid in the absorption of toxins, enhance fluid circulation and induce deep relaxation. Performing an effective lymphatic drainage massage requires special knowledge, training and experience and when it is performed correctly it feels gentle and relaxing. MLD uses light pressure in long; rhythmic stokes to increase lymphatic slow. Lymphatic drainage treats your skin, rather than your muscle, assisting the movement of lymph fluid. You will also learn skills to manage your Lymphoedema with a home maintenance program of MLD, lymphatic decongestive exercise and skin care.
